CARBON ZERO INSTITUTE OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Reduce your Carbon Footprint

Help Save Our Planet

The Carbon Zero Institute of Trinidad and Tobago, CZITT is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the reduction of net carbon emissions and promotion of sustainability.

Trinidad and Tobago was a signatory to the Paris Agreement in 2015. The country is in the world’s top three carbon emitters per capita due to its long history of oil and gas production, and petrochemical manufacturing. Caribbean countries depend on imported petroleum products for power generation and transportation fuels. The Caribbean also falls under “Small Island Developing States” (SIDS) and experiences the worst effects of climate change, including coastal erosion, reduction in agricultural and fisheries output, and extreme weather events.

CZITT was established to carry out the necessary research and promotions, engage with stakeholders, influence policy, develop programmes and projects, and collaborate with governments and civil society in the mitigation of climate change.

We pay particular attention to young people who desire to better understand how they fit into a climate changed world and how they can help to prepare a better future for the planet.
